Best of the Slow

#1 Post by hhedberg » Mon Aug 27, 2007 5:06 pm

I was watching a lindy demo by a couple from Sweden which was done to a very slow and sassy song, and was wondering what were some of everyones favorites slow songs. Which songs do you actually DJ and which onces do you just like or keep around for performances? I will throw in "Fever" and "Wade in the water" for some personal favs, both of which I will occasionally play.

Duke Ellington and Johnny Hodges: Side By Side - "Big Shoe"
Duke Ellington: Unknown Session - "Black Beauty"
Diana Krall: When I Look In Your Eyes - "Let's Fall In Love"
Count Basie: On The Sunny Side Of The Street - "Have You Met Miss Jones?"
Robbie Williams: Swing When You're Winning - "Ain't That A Kick In The Head"
Oscar Peterson: Night Train - "Easy Does It"
Svante Thuresson: En salig man - "Lita aldrig på en man" (a Swedish artist, probably quite difficult to find outside Sweden, but the song is very good)

To name a few :)

Gene Harris - Uptown Sop & Apollo 21
Dick Hyman - Dooji Wooji
Bob Crosby - Complainin' & Dogtown Blues

To name a handful - it's hard to pick out an all-time favourite though.

Sugar Blues
Tin Roof Blues (an all-time favorite)
Weary Blues
Creole Love Call (can be a bit campy)
Black and Blue
Mis'ry and the Blues (Jack Teagarden)

I've been enjoying dancing to ballads recently too.
