The "Hellzapoppin' and Jumpin' at the Woodside" topic had already been raised here a couple of times (
here and
here), but anyway.
After having read Frankie's book I really wanted to see what the Hellzapoppin' routine was like with the Count Basie's "Jumpin' at the Woodside".
I couldn't find any suitable arrangement of that song except the "classic" 1938 version - so I had to speed it up to match the Hellzapoppin' tempo.
Well, here is the result:

I guess I've managed to sync it quite well - in some moments you can really see that they are dancing to that particular song.
Especially in the last solo part - with Frankie and Ann Johnson.

That was pretty fun to watch, even though Woodside sounded like it it was on hyper time. The footwork towards the end while they are in line makes WAY more sense this way.

Wow. Nice job!
It is a perfect fit, even including the exit. Even though the dancing routine ends before the song, the applause and scamper offstage are timed perfectly so that they exit when the song ends. Nice coordination with the hover-hold during the sax transition, too.

Why exactly are you being so sarcastic?
It really *is* the way it was supposed to be. Isn't it?

I guess Frankie was not making any decisions about the music - they just told him that it will be rewritten.

The Rhythm Hot Shots used to do this routine to this music. Maybe they still do? I'm out of the scene so dont even know if they still exist.

I guess all the smilies didn't convey my message was just light-hearted irony humour, and not sarcastic or disrespectful to you or anybody in any way.
I am not here to indulge in oneupmanship or insulting anybody and I'm sorry and upset you felt like I would do that to you.

Don't be sorry - it's probably me looking on the dark side.
