John, remind me a few days ahead of time and I will set my homemade DVR to record it, and then convert it to DVD quickly.

No problem... sounds like something I'd like to have too.

Actually, i Just set it up to record manually (6:30pm, Aug 22nd, 1.5 hours).

So unless something goes wrong, I'll have it for you.

Hey - can you also get me CAROLINA BLUES with Kay Kyser? Another astoundingly elusive film that few people have seen since TV in the 50s and 60s.

Be sure and grab REVEILLE WITH BEVERLY for yourself - it has some great bands in it.

THANKS!

*funny story - Johnny Carson once related that his Army camp in WW2 had only one movie and it was REVEILLE WITH BEVERLY. He just shook his head when he remembered that - just seeing the same film over and over and over and over....

I have it scheduled on my Tivo if nobody else remembers. Thanks for the heads up. I love Charlie Barnet!

I got these. There's a full performance of Take The A-Train in the Reveille with Beverly film, where Betty Roche comes out from behind a curtain and takes a vocal. Magical, the sheer joy on the Duke's face as his fingers slither off the keys, and everyone else in the band. Absolutely fantastic.

:D

'The Fabulous Dorseys' was on TCM on Friday at noon - 2pm PST. I wondered into a pool hall for my lunch and saw it on! They don't put any sound on their TVs during the daytime though.

Luckily this is available on Netflix - I put it in my queue when I got home :)
