small group dancable recordings

#1 Post by Sumjugei » Tue Jul 31, 2007 3:23 pm

i just recently picked up benny goodman small groups 41-44, it had been mentioned in another thread.

previously i had stayed away from small groups, preferring the sound and lack of endless solos in big bands.

please help expedite my search for dancable small group recordings

thanks,
aaron

^^What he said. The Ellington small groups would be my next recommendation. If you have money, get the Mosaic set of Ellington Small Groups

And don't forget the Dorsey small group, the Clambake Seven. I think a couple of other big bands did the small group breakout too, for example Chick Webb has his Chicks.
