Louis Armstrong & Johnny Cash

#1 Post by michael-t » Mon May 21, 2007 12:51 pm

Hi everybody,

I hope this is the right forum for this song as it is a bit non-standard :?:

Check out this video of Louis Armstrong & Johnny Cash singing a Jimmy Rogers blues song. ("Blue Yodel No. 9"). From 1970.

I think its preety sweet and a great exmaple of how music crosses any possible boundries :)

Michael.

Isn't that one of the two/few sides that LA originally recorded with Jimmy Rogers?
Will big bands ever come back?

Yes, that is correct, he mentions that in the video clip.

I was amazed at the difference between Louis' face when he is laughing and when he is blowing the trumpet. One moment he is all crazy kid, and the next dead focused...

It is nice to think about these two guys, one black, one white, playing together in 1930. Especially when one was the idol of country music, seat of southern culture. Isn't that before the first ethincally-integrated swing band recording?

That is my favorite all-time video on YouTube.
