On this CD:

there is a song called "Jones", written by Clark Terry (officially his wife).
This is a nice song but I think it could be even better if you could hear more of the music and less of Ellington's voice.

Do you know if there is a better recording of this song available?

There seem to be two other Ellington live recordings:
Live at Newport 1958
and
At The 1960 Monterey Jazz Festival
according to what I can find on Amazon, but I don't know if they will meet my requirements.

There's a studio version by the Clark Terry Spacemen that's strictly instrumental but it's a smaller group and not as laid-back. The one you've got above is my favorite because it's totally Ellington at his coolest.

Agreed. I've never heard a version of "Jones" that has come close to that one. In fact that Ellington album is most definitely one of my all-time favorite Ellington recordings!

I agree, it is a very cool recording.
Have you ever tried it on the dance floor? I did a couple of days ago, but people started to look confused after a while so I let it fade away and changed to something else.
