"Sesame Street"

Boy, I haven't posted in years. . . I wish I had internet at home. I can at least say that I've been out DJing a LOT in the Milwaukee area, and love doing it. I have certainly improved on my abilities and also have royally expanded my collection.

My girlfriend is bugging me for the swingin' "Sesame Street" track that some of you may know? What is it? Lippy from Chicago would play it in his sets (at least years back)

Keep it warm, its friggin cold out there!

closest i can think of is "mahna mahna".

strictly speaking from the muppet show, not sesame street. it's on the The Muppet Show: Music, Mayhem, and More! album.

Swing Legacy do a version of the Sesame Street theme on the CD "Even the Chickens are Dancing"

I'm guessing it's the Oscar Peterson version with the Singers Unlimited.

The name of the album is "In Tune"

Triva for the day:
"Mahna Mahna" was written by Italian composer Piero Umiliani for a Swedish X-rated documentary.

doubt it's the version you're looking for, but i've played the Swing Shift's arrangement, as available on emusic, around here a few times... always seems to win a mix of puzzled glances and big goofy grins. the chord structures are what i think of as "modernized" (the bright brassy sound? if anybody cares, i'd like a better musical term to describe it?), but it still swings well enough for dancing.

I played "C is for Cookie" from one of the Sesame Street albums a few years ago for a kid-themed evening.

"Ladybug Picnic" - A Collegiate Shag if I've ever heard one!

(Also, "Rubber Ducky" is a nice 150BPM, after about a 0:27s intro...)

I've always been rather partial to "Rubber Duckie". After all cleanliness is next to Godliness. :)

Rubber Duckie

Always thought that would make a good show piece, but try a lindy circle to "Who Are The People In Your Neighborhood?"

There's also "Put Down the Duckie".

Awwwe...yeah! Check out all of the guest appearances in the video. Love seeing Rhea Perlman and Danny Devito swing dancing!

Holy smokes, that is awesome. I think I actually saw that when it originally aired...
