Hi.
I'm doing some researching as always and now I'm looking for some very early live recordings of bands that were caught on film in whatever form.
I'm looking at the 40's period. I sure there are also some 30's material out there.
Please note, I'm taking about a proper "Live" gig with audience. Much of the footage in the early 40's is not live. They where recorded in a studio and then the musicians just acted for the camera.
Thanks for you help
Brian

So you don't want to hear about live 30s footage?
How about silent 40s live footage?

IF you know some, point me in the right direction.

1938 Randall's Island Carnival of Swing. Newsreel footage - mostly silent, some sound, IIRC
Also saw some newsreels with Benny Goodman at CH and later footage from the mid 40s at a hotel in NYC playing for the people.
There is a fair amount of silent home movie footage in color of the Glenn Miller band at various venues.
Will big bands ever come back?
