I've been scouring Amazon and Allmusic on the web, and discovered that the following labels are good sources of older material with good sound quality -
Circle (NB: the American label)
Dutton Vocalion
Hindsight
Phontastic
I wondered what your opinions of these labels are?
(I also found this website, but it hasn't got them all -

HINDSIGHT has been around for a while and has always been known for their always superior sound quality. They have used mostly transcriptions recoded in the studio, plus they have also used very high qualiy radio broadcasts. They feature a lot of not quite Swing bands aka dance bands...some sweet, some very peppy. They have also had some good straight out Swing bands, too.
The only PHONTASTICS I have are rare Benny Goodman sides. The sound quality was exellent on most of them, but I was really buying them for the material, so sound quaity took a back seta. OTOH, I donlt recall being startled by bad sound on any of them. Great for Goodman collectors.
CIRCLE - First impression - weird covers. I have afw of the Circkles and the material was good and the sound was good. None of them have mave lasting impressions on me. It's been a while since I bought one. Thumbs up, rather than thumbs down.
DUTTON VOCALION - What's that?

Some interesting titles with low prices on some of the recent releases aby American artists....funny to see them using 78 rpm album cover art...save a pound, eh, mate?
The titles on the American artists seem good...nice little collections.
The BG On Stage is one you can pretty safely skip as it is from the late 60s. Not bad, but no 'must own''.
