I was just poking around jazz-on-line.com and stumbled across a few sides by Sam/Sammy Price and his Texas Blusicians. Really cool stuff, even a few cool recordings with Lester Young.

According to allmusic, he's known for his blues and boogie woogie piano and did a lot of studio work. Some of his early stuff sounds pretty good with a little more of a small-group swinging jazz sound.

I regularly spin "The Goon Drag" and "Just Jivin' Around", both with Lester Young, from "The Complete 1936-1951 Small Group Sessions, Vol. 6, Rare Items" [Blue Moon #1006] (with Lester Young being the album artist).

Apart from those, I don't enjoy much else from Price's catalogue for dancing though. As usual, Lester's presence really lifts the atmosphere.

I picked up a great CD that I spin from a lot, Sammy Price featuring Emmett Berry in the Americans Swinging in Paris series.
