Like - what are you playing at dances and what are you listening to (Jazz and Swing) in your personal or work time?

Far from it. I'm telling you that lately I haven't been listening to much Jazz/Swing outside of my dancing related stuff. It goes in cycles.Eyeball wrote:"Like - what are you playing at dances and what are you listening to (Jazz and Swing) in your personal or work time?"
Is Korn some Swing or Jazz group I have not heard of? (see above)

Ya, I get burnt out on listening to one style of music sometimes, so I lay off for a bit until the mood strikes me again... I've never gotten sick of anything, just needing a break sometimes.Eyeball wrote:

Why cycles? Why only outside of dancing stuff?
Interesting. I never get tired of Swing or big bands or Jazz, but I do like other things, too.GemZombie wrote:Ya, I get burnt out on listening to one style of music sometimes, so I lay off for a bit until the mood strikes me again... It's just my personality.
Recently I've discovered Red Norvo and Glen Gray, also some new (for me) Glenn Miller. The recording quality is relatively good on all these.Eyeball wrote:what are you listening to (Jazz and Swing) in your personal or work time?
Married to Mildred Bailey, and the couple was called 'Mr and Mrs Swing' apparently . I think the 'swinging' quality of the band is largely due to the arrangements (Eddie Sauter?).Eyeball wrote:Norvo - great band most of the time in the 30s.
All three of them were masters of subtlety. Plus, the band had good musicians in it.Haydn wrote:Married to Mildred Bailey, and the couple was called 'Mr and Mrs Swing' apparently .
