Stealin' Apples - Goodman - Krupa - Live 1943

#1 Post by Eyeball » Mon May 22, 2006 2:22 pm

I have this cut on an LP. Greatest version of Stealin' Apples I have ever heard. Live from 1943 on an LP called "1943 - The Forgottten Year" on some mega obscure label. The sound quality os OK, not great. But the LP pressing is one of the worst I ever bought new. Junk vinyl.

I cannot find this track elsewhere and I want a clean copy on a CD.

There is another version on LP from 1943, but it does not have Krupa on drums.

Anyway.......can anyone locate this one?

Goodman is on fire during this performance and he takes 4 choruses. Hot hot hot! Krupa just pushes the thing along like never before. It dwarfs every performance of S.A. I have ever heard, especially the BG Columbia studio recording from 1939.
