#1 Post by Eyeball » Fri Jan 20, 2006 1:05 am

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00000 ... nce&n=5174

Is this CD availabe anywhere?

It was recorded live in Pasadena in 1947 and has the famous long version of STAR DUST. Originally a DECCA/MCA release.

It's for an old friend of mine who's got a yearning for it again.

If ya know, please tell me.

THanx.

I checked a few web sites w/o any luck.

Thanx, but he needs the CD.

The LP was available for decades on 12 inch LP. Looks like the CD came out in 1989 and it's gone.

Those UK prices for the 10" version seem pretty 'optimistic'.

I know you can find that Pasedena recording of Stardust (which is unbelievable) on the Lionel Hampton Proper Box Set - Disc 4.

Thanx Ryan-

I saw the box set, but it is likely out of my friend's budget or even more likely that he wants the entire LP/CD as it was originally issued. He has a ton of stuff.

I will mention the Proper Box to him!

Proper Boxes can be had for around 20 dollars, so it's not out of his budget, but it's understandable if he wants the entire original album.

oh, yeah. He can pop for 20 bucks no problem. I will tell him and see if it's the one tune or the whole lp/cd he wants.

thanx again
