I just came across this LP as I was going through my stuff. It is on a private label and it has one entire complete Benny Carter session from Jan. 1940 on it. Lots of alternates and unissued titles.

To fill out the LP, they put 2 broadcasts with Benny Carter sitting in with Gene Krupa's ork in 1941. Benny plays trumpet on "Rockin' Chair" in the famous arrangement that Roy Eldridge would soon come to play. BC also plays alto sax on ".....Changes Made".

Are these tracks on CD or anywhere? The LP is sealed and I am reluctant to open it. But I wanna hear those BC/GK broadcast tunes.

It is on the Meritt record label, if that helps.

I...I'd have to look...but I think they might be on The Gene Krupa Story (4-disc box set by Proper records).

Hi KitKat - OKeh..please...check the Proper Box when you get a chance.

Hi Brian - thnax for the link. Those are all Krupa studio recording sessions and BC was the arranger on a few titles.

The GK LP I had had BC sitting in on a live broadcast.

I don't see any performance listings for Benny Carter, only the arrangement on Symphony in Riffs.
