Just listened to the Bernard Berkhout Swing Orchestra interview. Really fascinating stuff re: recording a CD with dancers in mind and particularly the collaboration between Bernard and Robert. Thanks to all involved!

Jesse - thanks for the great links to the song recommendations in the notes. I really like "Swinging Shepherd Blues" by Floyd Cramer and "Tabby The Cat" by Roy Lanham & The Whippoorwills (recommended by Marc D'Olimpio and Morgan Day respectively)

Hi Jesse--A slight correction: the Wynton Marsalis album is a compilation of past material. I knew I recognized that clip of KPS--it's on the album
Mr. Jelly Lord, along with a bunch of other material with a similar feel.
Great show as always.

Haydn, thanks for the compliments!
And zipthebird, I appreciate the correction. The title of the album alone, "Swingin' Into The 21st", should have been an obvious tip-ff that it was a collection of reissues! And to further clarify, here's an excerpt from the editorial review on Amazon:
As the Pulitzer and 9-time Grammy Award-winner eases into his 50th birthday on October 18, 2011, he casts his memory back a dozen years to 1998-99 when - with the new millennium on the way - he began to lay plans for an unprecedented release of nine major album projects that would eventually span 1999 and 2000. A timely name was given to the campaign, "Swinging into the 21st!" and the artist dedicated himself to the immense task ahead.
To celebrate Wynton's 50th birthday, highlights from those nine albums plus his career-defining masterpiece All Rise have been selected by the artist for one new compilation: SWINGING INTO THE 21st!
I am glad that this collection of reissued tracks serves as a reminder about the great album "Mr. Jelly Roll". Looking back, Reuben raved about the album on
swingdjs.com years ago, but I never got around to picking it up at the time (thus the reason KPS sounded new to my ears). Will definitely have to get a copy of the album now. Better late than never, right?
