Proper's new packaging

#1 Post by Yakov » Sun May 29, 2005 4:10 pm

Seems that all future proper boxes will be in a much thinner box, with each CD in an LP-style sleeve. This is neat but kind of a shame because I've taken to using those big boxes for all kinds of things.

I'm not a fan of that.
I have some CD's like in covers like that, - don't like them.
More difficult to find on the shelf and they can bet damaged more easily. Not as much room for liner notes.

Ahh well.

Blame consumers always demanding ever lower prices.

Actually, being the owner of over 30 of these box sets, and also being a pack rat (Meaning I hate to throw away packagin), I welcome the new format.

I like slimmer packaging.

I always rip everything once I buy it anyway, most of my DJing and listening is digital, so the less room CDs take up, the less clutter.

the "liner notes" are still contained in a huge, detailed booklet.
the new British Swing box contains a mega-sized 68-page essay.
so, you have nothing to worry about in terms of liner notes.

I've really like if the reduction in box size and weight would reduce my postage costs. I import so much stuff from the US over to Australia, postage a big factor for me.
