I've been buying a lot of British Swing.
There are some real cool labels here in Melburne remastering them really well. UK recording quality is quite different than US recordings. I know UK recording technology of the time was ahead of the US and in some of the recordings it does come through. One very noticeable difference is you can really hear the snare drum.
I'm a big band on Ken "Snake hips" Johnson. Really good stuff.
Many of the British stuff contain more Sweet Swing than the US, but there are some fantastic swing and Dixie stuff.

FYE has clips of all of the tracks. They sound very, very interesting - some sound very different from most American jazz, although there are plenty of familiar sounds, too. I was surprised to see a Garland Wilson track. Thanks for posting about it.

I already mentioned this one I think. EXCELLENT collection! VERY Highly recommended.

To be clear it's not all bands from Britain. There are plenty of American bands... it's more of a overview of what the musical culture was like over there during that time.
