Rosetta Tharpe - Document or Proper?

#1 Post by PhysicsDan » Tue Apr 19, 2005 11:00 am

So, I'm wanting to pick up the Rosetta Tharpe works.

Allmusic indicates sets by Document (79 songs on 3 CDs) and by Proper (81 songs on 4 CDs)

While I normally favor completeness, I'm willing to sacrifice 3% of the music for significantly better sound quality - is anyone familiar enough with these to know if one is better?

Any help appreciated.

Dan

Proper has some of the best sound quality avaliable. The only thing I have from document is obscure blues from the 1930's and the soung quality is poor.

Proper quality is excellent. And you can't beat the price.

Sweet, so more complete AND better quality... big thanks.
