Bob the Builder wrote:well I've got all of those.

You'll need to add Count Basie & has orchestra 1937, Chick webb & his Orchestra 1936

The recordings on this album are very different than Chick Webbs standards. There are some very cool songs on this one.

There are some other recordings I also have of Chick Webb with Lious Armstrong.
There is a few other Chick Webb recordings that are not on the Melodie Jazz Classic Label.
EG: In the Groove at the Grove
There are a few other, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Damn, you're right, and I was going to get rid of my copy of Spinnin' The Web...not anymore...someone should just put out a box set of all this stuff...

There's also the recordings Chick Webb did with other bands, for example, the recordings he did with Ellingtonians and Ivie Anderson.

25. Jubilee Swing

Don't think I have come across these before.

Yes I have Strictly Jive. It's my favorite Chick Webb album and has by far the best sound quality of any of his stuff I've picked up. I highly recommend it if you don't already have it. "Jubilee Swing" and "Take It From The Top" are both great swinging cuts.

Interestingly enough, "Jubilee Swing" and "Lindy Hopper's Delight" (both on this album) are probably not featuring Chick Webb at all, as they are also found on Ella's 1939-40 Chronological Classics, which features songs that were all recorded after Chick Webb passed away.

From allmusic:
This fifth in the six-CD series by the European Classics label documents Fitzgerald's recordings during a nine-month period starting shortly after she took over the late Chick Webb's Orchestra. During this era she was much better on the ballads than on the uptempo novelties, many of which (such as "My Wubba Dolly") were not worth saving. Fortunately this CD has a good sampling of ballads (such as "My Last Goodbye," "Moon Ray," "Sugar Blues" and "Imagination") along with two rare instrumentals by her big band. The music is not essential but fans will enjoy this look at her early days.

The last four tracks are listed as by Ella and her big band.

Tell AllMusic that. ;)

Thanks for the clarification. My copy of Strictly Jive is packed up, so the liner notes aren't easily accessible. I so need to get my CDs unpacked!

yup Lindy Hopper's Delight was recorded after Chick passed on, but there are two different versions...the one on Strictly Jive is faster than the one on Classics...

Too bad there's no sound samples.

Oh, since you're a Webb completist, do you have the sessions he did with Ellington small groups?

There aren't that many, but they're good; a couple with Ivie Anderson too.
Apparently Chick Webb and Johnny Hodges were friends and Duke had
helped Chick start his band. When I first came across Webb on Duke cds
i wondered about it, but then I read a bit about him in a Hodges interview.
