I'm listening to some BBC production about Glenn Miller and it is narrated by Geo Melly and he stinks. I realize he didn't write the terrible script or produce the ill-targeted show, but he is such a slithering pompous ass.
Haydn - what's was this guy's deal? He almost seems like a Jazz dilettante.

Will big bands ever come back?

Dilettante: A person who enjoys the arts or someone who engages in a field as an amateur out of casual interest rather than as a profession.

I never saw him, but, from what I remember when he was alive, he had a reputation as a jazz fan who liked 'the good life'. I think he also had a name for being an entertaining performer.
