Danceable Swing Basoon?
Illinois Jacquet does a bassoon number on the Black and Blue album. It's nominally danceable, but I'm interested in finding some more danceable bassoon stuff for a basoon playing dancer friend of mine. Anything interesting out there?

I always thought Peter and the Wolf was danceable
I've never heard of a jazz bassoonist before, but believing in the power of google here are some hits I got on "jazz bassoonist"
http://www.jazzbassoonist.com/ - Michael Rabinowitz - sounds good on the samples, and there is a "Celebrating Sinatra" CD he did.
http://www.jazzbassoon.com/ - Paul Hanson - more funk/electronica but sounds cool
but I think the winner is:
http://www.danielsmithbassoon.com - with a CD called "Bebop Bassoon" - here's a track: http://www.danielsmithbassoon.com/music ... _sadie.mp3

OK, that is amazing. An actual decent version of Sister Sadie in Bassoon!djstarr wrote: but I think the winner is:

What I liked the best was that each of the bassoonists was playing like they were holding a big bari sax.......I got a good laugh last night looking at their "jazz attitudes". I bet they have an embrochure of steel if they are swinging it around when they play (nerdy note here for non-reed players; bassoon is a double reed meaning no mouthpiece like on a sax that you can sink your teeth into and get a good grip).Ron wrote:OK, that is amazing.
