Bennie Moten

It seems like it's been a while since we've had an "artist thread." How about Bennie Moten? What are your favorite CDs (not that there are that many)? Do you play much of his pre-Basie stuff?

I just bought Band Box Shuffle, a 2-CD set with recordings from 1929-1932. I'm still going through it, but I like what I've heard. It includes a thick booklet. Odd moment: I was listening to one of the CDs while I was walking through Wal-Mart, and I heard a bit of Dvorak's 9th Symphony (my favorite classical piece) in one of the songs. Very weird experience. Turns out that the song "Mary Lee" has, at 0:51, the famous part of the second movement.
