I put often. But I must also say that it depends a lot on the crowd and when etc. The majority crowd in my home town will dance to anything, personally I won't dance to things I don't like. But when being at a dance camp with lots of options I've found that people will leave for other rooms or go to...

I carry them and dependent on the mood of the night I might play them. Though if I'm playing only to lindyhoppers they don't come out often.
But lots of the neoswingstuff appeals to beginners and the mix of people that just happens to be there to here a live band (when playing band breaks).

When next year? I need to find a conference to make work pay for the trip ;-)

I tend to either make it really fast or really slow depending on the energy in the room.
Really slow with a long blues to get the energy down to nothing or really fast to make sure that most of the people won't have the stamina to dance another song right away.

Thanks for the list, Nate. Some of my favorites are in there as well. Every once in a while Sergio likes to play David Bowie's "Lets Dance". I love him for it and we're usually the only ones on the floor dancing. There's a DJ in Tampa who will play The Cure's "Boys Don't Cry" fo...

They don't have to have a cd out yet, as long as I can get a good recording.
Still in the end we will have to choose from what we can get and make the collection as good as possible.

Best of contemporary swing music

I'm part owner of a company that among other things act as record company and release retro music (swing, jump blues, rockabilly etc.) We're thinking about making a collection of modern swing music (modern as recorded after 1990 and artists that still are active, and swing as in classic swing - no n...

Brian Setzer & Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

*Cough* You might have heard of these bands. They are not dead, so neoswing still seems to exist. And both have recently released new albums. So I thought I'd give you a short review of these (by the way, I did NOT pay for these cds, but the BBVD I might have done if I didn't get it for free) Brian ...

Depends on how I count. I carry about 80% of my original cds. And about 10% of my jazz mp3 collection burnt to audio cd (of which 90% I payed for by using e-music or similar)

I'm not actively excluding anything. But since I'm building my collection and don't have huge amounts of money I'm only buying things I really want. This makes me buy no Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman and Andrew sisters at the moment. But I guess if I found something I really like I wouldn't really car...

Any text editor or if you want it fancy, Adobe Illustrator. With Illustrator you can decide your own format of everything (which I personally like very much)

Jennie Lobel's first cd - cause even she herself don't like it... but wait, I got it for free so it doesn't count. Then there is that neoswing-jump-salsa band from Texas whose name I have erased from my brain. But the cd is still around somewhere. But their cd really suck. And then I have a couple o...
