I find that dancing a song here and there throughout the night sometimes helps me understand how the dancers are feeling. It gets me closer to their physical state (increased heart-rate, buckets of sweat, etc.). Then, I'm much more attuned to what could be fun for the next song. The catch is that I'...

Oh, good. I can use PayPal.

Seriously, it looks like very cool stuff. I love seeing how people write their music.

Maybe a few of us could go in together and split the cost.

Gone! Somebody from Yehoodi got it. Jesse, I didn't know about the 25 free songs, but I'm pretty sure this was a special promo that did not require you to open an account. I had another code that got me to the point of downloading - without signing up to pay money. If I remember correctly (it's been...

I mean, I've got a code for three free downloads. I don't have specific songs. You can choose whichever songs you'd like. I can't use the code because emusic isn't compatible with my PC.

Free music, people! PM me if you want it.

Lester Young on sax, with that soft, wide sound. There may be solos that swing harder, jump more, etc., but I understand his playing on a spiritual level.

<obvious-but-worth-noting>Keep in mind songs that slow down and/or mellow out between the beginning and end. Some older ones do that. I don't remember exactly which ones, but I think there are some early Basie and maybe Bennie Moten. Erskine Hawkins's songs actually do the opposite very often. They'...

Nicky Siano plays something familiar

Cool video (for the audio). I was listening because it was Siano, and then I heard something familiar...

Well, around here, we only play it for the Shim Sham, and I think it's always the overplayed Erskine Hawkins one. If you were to play some other version, people would probably still think it was time to do the Shim Sham. That's probably why it doesn't get played more here, and why I don't know many ...

Joseph Robichaux and His New Orleans Rhythm Boys, all the way. "She Don't Love Me," and "Why Should I Cry for You?" would probably fit your criteria. Most of the rest is above 250, but is flat-out spectacular. My choice would be "King Kong Stomp," but it's about 250.

Audacity is great for those minor edits. Zero crossings, fades, and a whole lot more for other purposes. I find it very easy to use. I did some editing with it tonight, in fact.

Both samples use two-channel stereo, which is how I ripped it from the CD. All I did with the second one was adjust the EQ and add a little reverb. No additional channels, compression, limiting, etc. Personally, I'd rather buy the first one, because I, too, loathe that "1970s reverb" or ot...

This thread prompted me to try EQing an old track, which was something I'd been thinking about doing. I used Fletcher Henderson's "Radio Rhythm" from the CD, Tidal Wave , because that's about all I had on the computer. I opened the .wav in Cubase, and EQed with three bands, then added a l...
