I posted this on Jive Junction, but it's obviously relevant here (even more so now). Quite a while ago some of us talked about the desire to play more music that isn't "played out", and perhaps expand the "playlist" as it were, getting outside of the standard songs that are alway...

Re: Creative Extigy

This seems to be an interesting gadget to own, does anyone else have one of these external sound cards? I guess it works with a few different divices. I have it plugged into my Lap top right now and I'm trying to get the hang of it. The remote control will take some getting used to, but it seems pr...

Should post that on Jive Junction or Yehoodi... since it involves dancers.

Those of you Mac users (read: sensible computer people) can use DJ-1800 - it basically recreates a Denon 1800 4-disc CD player/mixer like those they use at a LOT of clubs. Someone with the software should play with this and see if it works nicely. Pretty sweet. Looks very good. Now all you need is ...

I did a "Taste-test" using my wife. Playing the original against a downloaded copy (of CD I already owned), using a nice pair of headphones. She (nor I really) could tell the difference.

Good 'nuff for me.

Since Friday I've increased my collection by about 28 CD's.

So I signed up for emusic. The bitrate has improved, as promised, and the sound quality on old Jazz stuff is turning out to be Excellent. So far I've only downloaded some Old Jazz recordings, but I'm stoked. I'm not even bothered by the fact that newer artists aren't on emusic since I'm a fan of old...

I have a B.G. Small groups disc that I've really enjoyed as of late. BG/LH/CC/etc combos were awesome.

At a higher bitrate, I'll actually probably sign on to the service. Ihope they go with 192k or maybe VBR...

I have iCrunchBPM for my Palm, a dirt-simple, free little ditty I've had for a while. Same idea as WinBPM--tap and it calculates--but I really don't use it very often, and really don't like to. My biggest pet peeve is when anyone comes up and asks me to play a tune "about 190" or whatever...

In my CD Case I have them organized alphabetically by first name. Thats bizarre! So do you file Basie under "Count" or "Bill" or "William"? Count. I know it's weird, but it works for me. I think I just like having Artie Shaw towards the front of my collection. :D

In my CD Case I have them organized alphabetically by first name. But all my CDs are in sleeves, and i have color codes on the sleeves that represent: Classic Swing, R&B (Jump Blues etc), New Bands, Neo, Modern Big Bands, and "Collections". I pretty much keep my electronic organization...

You will not be disappointed with the Pocketch drive. I've been using mine for about 2 years now, it's been great! As with all removable media, make sure you use the OS tools to disconnect the drive before unplugging it though, or you can potentially lose data. That goes for all USB based drives tho...

Re: Counting BPM

How does everyone here count BPM on songs? I downloaded a program that has me hit the spacebar on every beat as I listen to it, and it pops out a number, but I discovered that it likes to speed it up (a listed 136 song popped up at 158), so while its good for me to get a basic idea, it's not all th...
