For clarification - this collection is all live broadcast material taken off the air. Savory was the guy who recorded the BG Carnegie Hall concert and many of the live broadcasts that Goodman did in the late 30s. There should be some fabulous stuff in there. He was married to Helen Ward, too, so lu...

It's on "A Handful Of Keys" on the Buddha label Thanks Haydn, I've already ordered the CD! It'd be worth the price for that track alone, but I listened to the CD on the Amazon website and realized that it includes some other great tracks recorded live at the Yacht Club with very good soun...

The first one sounds like "Redskin Rhumba" by Charlie Barnet, the second one is "Nagasaki", don't know the artist though.

I too love the V-Disc version of "The Minor Goes Muggin'". Other V-Disc favorites of mine are "All That Meat and No Potatoes", "No Cash for Your Trash" and "Your Feet's Too Big" by Fats Waller, and "That's A-Plenty" by Muggsy Spanier. That Gene Krupa...

Thank you for all your answers. Searching on Allmusic for "How'm I Doin'? (Hey, Hey!)" instead of "How Am I Doin' Hey Hey" as my Henderson title suggested gave more hits, but no bingo yet. I will tell you if i find the right one. I hope it's still as good as I remembered it to be...

How Am I Doin' Hey Hey

"How Am I Doin' Hey Hey" has haunted me for years now. I have the Fletcher Henderson version from 1932 off of "Yeah Man" [Hep 1016] , but have been searching to no avail for a certain modern, kick-ass recording of it that I've heard played at many jams by a certain dj, but from w...

The fastest song I have is a version of "Ride, Red, Ride" from 1935 by the Mills Blue Rhythm Band off of the "1933-1936" Retrieval album. It clocks in at almost 400 bpm, then they "half time" it at sub-200 bpm every now and then. I don't play it that often...
