I really dug them Friday night --- here's a link to the band if anyone is interested - http://www.geocities.com/hroband/

(note - I had originally posted for help on how to find them, but google works a lot better once you spell Renaissance correctly  )

Re: groove/vintage

Seattle is one of the strong holds for traditional Lindy Hop. And as you stated the DJs (as well as the scene) has become successful and draw for those who intend to travel there. simply put , It has certainly put them on the map , not only in style of music, but in their incredible abilities. I fo...

It would be nice to hear from the DJs who went and battled. I've heard that Shiny Stockings was played about 15 different times. Any truth to that? "Shiny Stockings" being played 15 times seems a little exaggerated... but if you were to add up the versions of "Shiny Stockings" a...

Congrats to all!

I really really enjoyed myself this weekend --- I thought all the music was great and it was nice to here such diverse sets. And it really made the tight venues bearable! I'm DJ'ing at the Century in Seattle this Wednesday, and I would like to play music that I heard this weekend -- I got some of th...

Re: groove/vintage

we have several excellent DJ's local and in our extended scene (Kevin Tamura, Kevin Schaper, Travis Whetman, Tonya Surface) who have been focusing on the swing era of jazz. And I might add that all the above DJ's have developed their music through the various phases of the Seattle scene, that's why...

groove/vintage

Yeah, I also really like all kinds of music. I'm just starting to DJ in Seattle; we have several excellent DJ's local and in our extended scene (Kevin Tamura, Kevin Schaper, Travis Whetman, Tonya Surface) who have been focusing on the swing era of jazz. So I've been playing more jump blues and groov...

3. "C-Jam Blues" or "Happy Go Lucky" from Lincoln Center (overplayed a few years ago, but still a good suggestion, Brenda) (My inclinations would be to anticipate so much hyper-active music that some good slow blues would really "hit the spot" before I would return to ...

I assume you will be there? Let me buy you a drink Saturday! Twist my arm! Since we haven't met and you don't have a picture posted I think you will have to find me this weekend - or if you know any of the Seattle dancers that will be there (we have one of our star teams performing!) have them poin...

Re: who's going to win?

The other interesting thing about the schedule is that the Harlem night tour (i.e. bar hopping) starts at 9 on Sat. and the Battle of The DJ's starts at 10......coincidence? I think not... Please excuse my ignorance; I'm really confused by this comment. Should the Harlem night tour be during the da...
