I don't have any of their recordings. But, I stood outside of their main venue at the Riverwalk in San Antonio and listened to them perform. It seemed entertaining.

Welcome, Jerry! You'll provide some interesting contributions to this community, as most of us DJ not as a profession or even on-air, but rather for lindy hoppers and other swing dancers at dance events. I'd say most folks here are dancers first, DJs second (at least if a recent poll is any indicati...

I've got a soft spot for "Walkin' Slow Behind You" -- the last song recorded w/Jimmy Rushing.

For me it's Al Cooper's Savoy Sultans (chrono classics). I bought it quite some time ago and played a track off of it at one dance, and then kinda forgot about it. This past week I went through my discs to prep for my first DJ slot here in Seattle and rediscovered it.

Well, it's not necessarily jazz (though it's certainly jazz influenced), there is a lot of swinging violin (fiddle) in western swing.

Have you heard the version by Dean Mora? I spotted it on allmusic - it's on Goblin Market - at 2:39 that's the perfect length for a request ;-) I have it, and it's quite bad, actually. I really like Moras. But, I've always had a problem with their vocalists, and the fella singing on their version o...

Personally, I like the recordings I have with Midred singing. i have the incomparable disc, and she's all over the Red Norvo "best of the big bands" disc I have. This is from a DownBeat article that mentions her influence (on white crooners...): ***** While Bailey never became an icon like...
