yeah it'd be nice to know who wrote that arrangement. if it's done by the band who played it, then i won't worry about it.

this one's from one of this year's slow prelims. i know it's a live band, but i was just wondering who wrote the chart. love the piano.

tough call nate. it's pretty fun to find a good classic song almost nobody has, and it's pretty easy to doctor a song a bit to cut down the noise. emusic is pretty easy to navigate. what i do is find the user profile of djs i like and listen to what they've downloaded. i.e. go up to a dj and say &qu...

it's probably a good idea to get some variety going. get some 20's new orleans going, some neo stuff, some tributes, etc. Preservation Hall Jazz Band Kurt Elling Solomon Douglas The (insert dead swing musician) Orchestra e.g. the count basie orchestra, the glenn miller orchestra, the tommy dorsey or...

bought a killer LP today

picked up Johnny Hodges - 3 Shades of Blue (Flying Dutchman records) today. it's mad good. musicians involved are: leon thomas, oliver nelson, al grey, and earl hines among others.

i'm almost done listening to the A side and everything is amazing so far. anybody else heard this recording?

[Answered] On the Sunny Side of the Street, Duke Ellington

saw this vid of skye and sarah doing a class routine to a mix of two versions of "On the Sunny Side of the Street"

The first is a Dizzie Gillespie version, but I can't figure out what the second version is. Any ideas?

as an edit maker, i never think of improving a song. i'm making it suit a specific purpose that may only be useful once or not at all. sometimes i just want to hear what it sounds like. it's just remixing. and it's a fact that most remixes are atrocious, but people still remix music anyway. i'm not ...

editing is a tough thing to do well, but some tracks need it. occasionally, there's some dumb intro or outro that could be cut. i've heard one guy cut the last bit of "wake up easy" to the yells of experienced dancers and to shrugs from new dancers. that's not the reaction i'd want. my fav...
