I've played some AATW for (swing) dancers here in Calgary and they've all swung to it, but they probably don't know that much country dancing. I'm sure if I played it for country or WCS dancers (WCS in Calgary tends to be country WCS, not funky glitter WCS) they'd do country dances to it. I guess th...

I have a LiteOn 52x52xsomething that is excellent and I paid $60CDN. It replaced my 8x plextor that served me well for years and years (and is still working in another computer) - so probably plextor will last forever, but a quick cheap soluton is any of the LG/LiteOn ones.

Mwahahaha! Slowly I make everyone I know love that cd - I got it for my dad for Christmas, too. It was one of those serendipity buys. I was looking for The Indestructible Beat of Soweto, which influenced Paul Simon's Graceland, when I wandered into this microscopic used cd store in Victoria BC. They...

When I get free beer, Dana, then you get free beer. Hey, maybe we'll get free beer for being cancelled last time! I know...I'll buy you a beer if you buy me a beer. I wondered how long 'til you read this thread, Bryan :) We need a collection plate on the dj booth so everyone will give us a dollar.....

I too have never been paid. In fact, I often pay my way in and then DJ. Something is wrong here.. now I'm going to be on an after-Christmas rampage, if only to get a free beer when I spin!

"Patch cable" or "patch cord" will work, but you'll have to know what kind of end you need on the cord on the mixer side. I assume that the discman is mini-headphone..

Has anyone got a recomendation for persional cd CD players to DJ with. I can't afford a proper DJ CD player. I'd really like a line out plug and a count down timer on the display. Any one have anything? It's been a long time since I've seen a discman with those features. My first one ever did, and ...

cool - thanks for the quick replies. So the link says that the track information includes bpm, genre and sub-genre. That would save a lot of time if that was easily downloaded and if the info was correct. Nate - have you seen the bpm info listed? Anyone else try this? p.s. that also explains why so...

To date I can't put it in Word, Other than cutting and pasting each track. I wish I could. Even better, I wish I could export track listings to a csv file, that way I could build a database of my CDs quickly. Do you have Winamp? Winamp lets you save out playlists as .txt or as .html files. Just sti...

2. With Winamp previewing through the internal soundcard/drivers, I can't seem to adjust the external (to Winamp) volume because the Extigy seems to have taken it over. Is there a way to get around this? Basically I can't get enough volume going to the headphones. If you're running Winamp 2x (which...

Well, it's not just "now" that western music is travelling back to Africa. I have a really interesting cd called "Township Jazz & Jive" that's a compilation of Sowetan and South African music from the 40s and 50s. American records would get imported to SA and the local bands ...
