I think this is a great swing song and I am sure that people on here are aware of other versions that are much better than mine, (Ellington (59) and Chrlie Barnet (42))...Let's hear 'em...

Wow, I did not know that John worked on that too...What does GRP stand for? BTW the guy has worked on lots of labels big and small, not just JSP and Hep...He's worked on Frog, Timeless, Jazz Oracle, Retrieval, and Storyville, I never knew he did work for Decca also but it does not surprise me... If there was only ONE Basie I'd get it would hands down be the Complete Decca Recordings Box Set...it definetly KILLS the America's Number #1 Band Box Set on Columbia on sheer quality of music...(I have both)...

I have plenty 20's jazz recordings that are suitable for DJing live dances... You just need to know the labels that have a good reputation for audio restoration. Jazz Oracle, Timeless and Retrieval are three off the top of my head that have put out lots of 20's hot jazz which is great for doing Char...

I picked that up about two months ago...it is out of print, in fact most of the Classics catalog is now out of print although they continue to put out new releases...it's all about checking the Amazon third party sellers on a consistent basis...one will show up for ya...

I second Yakov, the best Hot 5 and 7's for the price and sound quality is definetly the JSP box set...listen to the whole thing and see how much of a virtuoso Louis really was on his instrument...

I have read interviews with Frankie Manning where he has cited Claude Hopkins as one of the bands he loved to dance to when he first started...I wish more DJ's hit up his stuff...Singin' In The Rain is my favorite Claude Hopkins currently...it's on the Hep Transcriptions disc...
