I once had a situation in a venue I was running, in which the DJ's laptop was giving such horrible feedback that we had to stop the music for like 10 minutes. Thinking it was OUR equipment that was the problem, we frantically ran around troubleshooting our stuff, except that nothing fixed the proble...

It's like saying you won't look at "The Last Supper" fresco because it's peeling and getting old and discolored.

There was no shot intended. It sounded like one when placed in the context of other threads. If it's not, then I don't mean to create a spark/feud where there is none. :) Just because someone mentions a preference (even a strong one) for hi-fidelity, that does not mean they are oblivious to lo-fi, ...

Pop!

This band is playing it 2 weeks in San Diego. If any of you are in SoCal, you should definitely try to make it. If housing is an issue, send me an e-mail and I can probably arrange for you to crash with someone.

Because of lack of funds, I haven't bought any new CDs in like 6 to 8 months, which means I've been DJing off of the same 200-250 CDs for that entire time. At first, I was really worried that I would start playing the same stuff over and over again, but it's really amazing how much music you can fin...

Jeremy, I'm not sure exactly what your point was, anyway. While I may not play much before 1940, I regularly play songs recorded in the 40's, as my reviews and playlists show. This thread was talking about music available on 78's that hasn't made it to CD, and that could include such music, so I mi...

I don't think I've ever heard Ron play a song recorded before 1940. Why pick on Ron? (Of course, local animosity always seems to be the most ardent). As I pointed out elsewhere, that doesn't mean he hasn't done it.... It's no secret that Ron doesn't like that stuff. On his website he says: "I ...

I live to see the day you let one of these comments go unsaid.

I started down the path of the Swing DJ when a local promoter hosted a Guest DJ night. He gave anyone who wanted a 30-minute set. Down side is that most of the time, those nights suck, because you get a bunch of people who don't know what they're doing. The promoter hooked me when he invited me back...

. . . appeared to be doing a simular dance to the same music . . . On a different note, Peter, I see you use the word "simular" in a lot of your posts. I think you mean to use the word "similar" not "simular." Similar means "related in appearance or nature; alike ...

Unless I'm doing a double shot, I'll usually wait at least 5 or 6 songs before playing another song by the same musician.
