Perhaps not it's own group but a little publicity wouldn't hurt.

Reviving this thread because there are a lot of new products on the market and I'm in the market for some new speakers. I was initially keen on the Mackie SRM 450/350 v2's but after giving them a listen a couple weeks ago, I really don't think they hold a candle to the originals. The salesman was tr...

If I had to guess, #9 is Benny Goodman. I don't have that recording but a similar one on the Goodman Quadromania set. The clarinet was the clue that I followed.

It's by Tuba Skinny, Six Feet Down is the song title and title of the CD. It's hard to make out on the video but there is a really cool washboard solo during the tap/soft shoe part.

First one on the first clip sounds like "Jumping with Symphony Sid" but I'm not familiar with the version, possibly by Lorez Alexandria. The second one is definitely Jimmie Lunceford's Posin'

Fourth clip sounds like "At the Jazz Band Ball" by the New Orleans Cotton Mouth Kings.

Not so much for the dancing/music but for historical interest. The quality of the video is amazing and I've only ever seen a few seconds of worlds fair footage before.

About the Gaucho one: is there anyone else who thinks this band is over-rated? It's really popular here in the SF Bay Area, but to me they sound sloppy: their rhythm drifts all over the place. It's admittedly worse live than on recordings, but even in that video preview, they're not as tight as I l...

For some reason, this guy keep posting on the SoCalSwing forum asking for compliments on how great his original music is. You be the judge: http://www.tunecore.com/music/anthonypmaurosr From his web site: 'Mauro is back... along with his "brash and brassy" big band sound!' I didn't know C...

I'm pretty sure if I were there I would not have heard all that stuff. I'd maybe last 30 minutes before I'd have to get out of there. It sounds liken not only was it not swing music but it was completely random music. Was it a newbie DJ?

What Haydn said. For the birthday/farewell/special occasion jam, I usually try to pick something based on how many people there are and how many partner changes I expect. If it's a small group, I may only stick with a 3-ish minute tune. If it's a moderate sized crowd group, maybe 5-ish minutes. If i...
