... forcing vintage recordings on dancers ironically ensures that the music will die. These bands are forced into the bar and club circuit and struggle to exist because many of their target-market DJs (*US*) only play music from dead musicians; which, in turn, makes it difficult to find out about t...

Because we are playing to modern audiences who are accustomed to not needing to struggle to hear the basic rhythm, no less the subtle nuances. Because listening to music is an audible, not just an intellectual, experience, and most dancers need to be able to hear the music easily in order to dance t...

I give my CD's free to DJ's who play them at dances, and to radio stations who play them. To me, it is simply good advertising!! Yes, but it is still not mandatory that any musician do so; it might be bad business, but his unwillingness to give out freebies to some random guy who approached him at ...

I agree if you mean the physical convenience of a small card; I use the tiny Turtle Beach USB card that is the size of a flash drive mostly because it is so damn convenient. Do you have the micro or the amigo? I'm guessing the Amigo is the newer one since it's more expensive, but I can't really fin...

Re: Some examples of tracks with 'hiss'
Here are some examples of what I call 'hiss' on old tracks. They all have noise in the mid to high range. If you can't hear the hiss, turn up the treble and you'll hear what I mean - If you can't hear the hiss with the treble turned down, then why do you turn the treble up?!?!? Vintage music sounds...

I would default to finding a better source in lieu of fixing a poor quality source. But if every available CD release of a track has too much background noise, where do you find a better source? First, alternative sources are available for a lot of vintage stuff. I have three or four CD versions of...

I think the needs of DJing a dance are slightly different to listening at home: I'm more likely to put up with some noise at home than when i'm dancing in a noisy venue where I can't hear all the instruments anyway. I wish others would make that same realization that I made ten years ago. As for th...
