No singing == no sex.

At least, that's my theory.

Tell you what ... if you guys post your CD info as you send them in, I'll also post CDs from DJ's that send them in that aren't on this board, that way there's a running track of what's being put in the machine.

Jook Joint @ ECBF (10/28-10/30) - Submit Your CDs!

One of the goals for the Emerald City Blues Festival was to reconnect the blues dance scene with the roots of blues dance and what could be more quinessential to the origins of blues dance than a jook joint? So we decided to have a jook joint inspired afterhours dance, where a jukebox would be playi...

You'll need a program that does deCSS, like AnyDVD to first read the disc. To get at the individual files is a multi-step process that is actually quite tedious ... first you'll need to copy them to your hard drive using a program like DVD Decryptor. Then you'll need to convert the individual VOB fi...

LOL. I would never play Shave 'em Dry at a swing dance here since we have such a young young crowd. Martin has played songs featuring the 'f' word at blues parties but that's a different story. And yes, it was commented on. I believe that was the Spanker's "Everbody's F*cking But Me" that...

Might have to do with the fidelity of that version. The Asylum Street Spankers version gets good responses when I play it.

Does it swing?

No?

Straight onto the do-not-play list for the regular set. If I like it, maybe as my novelty song at the end of my set.

Not to be an ass or anything, but by this conversation, it seems like Burlington is about, say, 2 years behind the times? Seems like this conversation was bandied around the boards a lot around then ... maybe it's just a generational thing with every new set of dancers ... In any case, if people wan...

Jerry and I do the same thing. The way I manage them is that I go through and every time I get a new CD, I rip it, then put a copy on my desktop and a copy on my laptop. I then listen critically on my laptop, decide what I want, and then run a dupe check. I'm also then constantly pruning stuff I hav...

If you don't hear the hissing in your headphones, then it's in the house setup ... perhaps you weren't using the right input?

As a blues DJ, I spin a fair amount of her ... I love her because she's a shouter, a role supposed to be occupied by men for the big bands of the day, while the women were supposed to be sweet singers ... I don't have a box set of her, just a few CDs ... Compact Jazz and Queen mostly, along with a f...

The other day I got a request for Wade in the Water ... didn't say what artist, though. In goes the Johnny Griffin and Edwin Williams version ... :twisted:
