I'll post the rest of the CDs tonight ... I've got to get to work now. One thing, though ... I was talking with some people at the afterhours and they were surprised when I told them that I wasn't keeping the CDs and was tossing them out instead. They just didn't understand the fact that a DJ's CD r...

As an organizer, I wasn't paying attention to what was playing in particular, although what I heard was good ... it was funny at the beginning of the night because a bunch of DJs and instructors got in early and front-loaded the juke box with some really good music. A lot of the people attending rem...

If you can get your hands on a schematic of the radio (or you know tube circuits really well), you could probably tap in jack between the receiver and the amplifier circuits to connect directly. Not very advisable since old tube radios typically didn't have transformers, so that's 120V AC current f...

Because old radios have value and, yeah, a tech project like that is cool, but all you get is a case. And to be honest, putting new electronics in to play old music just doesn't make sense. I have a family heirloom Zenith console radio that I occasionally play music out of using a tube AM transmitte...

Went pretty well ... I'll have some time to list the CDs over the weekend (I'm still cleaning out the mess of things in my apartment left over from the festival and going over paperwork) ... general response was that people were really enjoying the visceral feeling of putting quarters in a juke box.

So far I've only gotten CDs from people that've posted their lists here, but I'm expecting more to come in the weeks before the festival. And actually bringing them with yourself to the festival won't be too late :)

As a jazz listener, there's nothing better than an old cryspy and warm sound of old 30's 40's songs. Yes, but what's even better is listening to them via the equipment of the era, which complimented the recording methods. I have a tube radio that I occasionally play my swing music through with a sm...

There's plenty of that in traditional blues music as well as swing and jazz ballads, so that's not the unique thing that I think you're really cueing into here. re: production values. Yes, ...
