A better idea is to completely disable all sound schemes ... I have it standard on my computer all of the time.

I've recently upgraded my situation:

Dell Inspiron E1705, Dual Core T2300 1.66 GHz
1 GB RAM
100 GB HD

I'm still using my external USB SB hardware, but it works fine ...

Okay, so there's no real info, but I just want to gloat that I got an $1800 computer for $1000. Thanks SlickDeals.net!

I use iTunes as my database software and then I can share my collections across the network ... when needed, I can then copy stuff between the two. I'll typically rip the new stuff to my laptop and then copy it to my desktop ... then I can just cherrypick the songs I like on my laptop and delete the...

To me, you only need the crazy large hard drive if you're planning on keeping your entire collection on the laptop or are using a large format like FLAC. I keep a master copy of all of my music on my desktop (which gets backed up onto an external HD regularly) and a small subset of music on my lapto...

In the context of the thread, though, I don't think that there's enough distinction between jazz and swing ... and it seems to me that the musicians there don't have an understanding of seeing a huge room full of lindy hoppers dancing, really dancing, to live bands ... wonder if seeing something lik...

About the closest I ever saw a real jazz musician get to the 'swing revival' craze was Duke Heitger featuring Johnny and Cari (SF instructors) on the cover of one of his albums. Poor album artwork, fantastic, honest to god swing music inside. Mostly overlooked by the fad. (The album is titled Rhyth...

From what I can remember of the teaser, they mentioned that there was only one artist that really gained prominence because, Stalin liked him, otherwise all of the other bands were not kosher.

Communist Swing Music

So, I heard a teaser for an NPR story (at least I think it was an NPR story) the other day about swing music under Communist Russia and that there was apparently one great artist that was supposed to be the USSR's answer to Basie and Ellington and they played an exceprt that was just absolutely swin...

... it was funny at the beginning of the night because a bunch of DJs and instructors got in early and front-loaded the juke box with some really good music. lol. I was really tired Sunday night and had to work the next day so I didn't go out to late night; I think I would have been tempted to prog...
