"Funky" version of Flying Home

I was at a blues event over the weekend and a DJ played a slow "funky" version of Flying Home. Only problem was they had no artist information (they had got it from another DJ). I would prefer to get an original copy of the track than perpetuate the copying of an unknown track on a number ...

DP, For a firewire external soundcard for the MacBook I use http://www.echoaudio.com/Products/FireWire/AudioFire2/index.php It can be powered off the firewire bus. It is expensive but a classy product. You can see it in operation the next time I am DJing in Sydney (the rave at SSF). On a side note t...

Australian Blues Resources

I know you've been chasing some blooz artists Russ - do you have any linkage? You wish is my command. :D These artists have material that is suitable for blues dancing (and some cross over into swing as well) but all are great to listen to: A great Australian blues music online store is http://www....

Matt Baker, who plays piano on my CD "The Phantom Dancer: 14 Swing Era Songs from 1926 - 1939", which I'm sure you have in your collection, available at CDBaby, is not Tom Baker's son. My bad - I picked that up incorrectly in my jazz travels. Yes I have The Phantom Dancer in my collection...

The list appears to be just one list in a whole realm of lists (plenty of room for debate in there) http://digitaldreamdoor.nutsie.com/pages/music0.html e.g. Top ten songs by Benny Goodman 1. Stompin' at the Savoy 2. Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing) 3. King Porter Stomp 4. Flyin' Home 5. Who? 6. Benn...

150 Greatest Swing Era Songs

Came across this list by accident but thought it made interesting reading. http://digitaldreamdoor.nutsie.com/pages/best_songs-swing.html Criteria (listed at bottom of list) Criteria: I. This list is not a pure Top 40 or Top 100 list from this era; for example, there is no Country & Western or m...

Victrola did a nice version which I have DJed. Can't find any music samples online and the CD is very hard to get hold of now. (my music is at home so can't check the gender of the vocalist on it but it is a good version of the song)

Last contest I DJed (Cowtown) I setup my contest music on my laptop then managed the music from the floor via my iPhone. It was fun. Which application were you using? I assume that there was a lcoal WiFi network you were using? Is there any remote control application that lets you use the phone 3G ...

I have enjoyed playing with Shazam. Useful for checking youtube clips. I get about a 75% success rate which is not too bad considering the material. Just downloaded midomi and haven't tested it too much yet. Will be interesting to check out tune recognition facility - hum a tune and it will find it ...

It is the Sweet Lowdowns playing at MLX not the Red Hot Rhythmakers.
However they are doing their regular Manchester Lane gig so you could always tell her to request it there. :D
