I've turned down everyone who wanted me to DJ their wedding. They can claim they want only swing music, but I didn't want to risk having a situation where I was expected to play "YMCA" or "Celebrate" or announce "and now its time for the garter toss!" Gag me. Besides, m...

Reviews are a lot of work, and my reviews didn't attempt populating any complex database. Keep it simple, I think. If writing on-line reviews was easy, more of you guys would have done it or would be doing it now. You wouldn't need someone to make a system for you, you'd just be writing reviews and ...

I really dig Lyle Lovetts non-country stuff for listening. He puts on a good concert, too. For dancing, I've played "She's Makes Me Feel So good" (124 BPM) for Lindy and I've played some other songs for blues dancing occasionally, such as "Wild Women Don't Get the Blues" with Fra...

I rip all the songs I want to play for dancers to WAV. Yes, it takes a lot of space, I've had to buy a few hard drives over the years. But I didn't want to deal with the hassle of converting to MP3 and worrying about compression losses. Ripping to WAV makes even more sense now that high-capacity har...

Well, it just goes to show how out of touch I am with the national scene these days. But that's OK. If I start playing a song that's new to me and new in San Diego, it doesn't really matter if its overplayed elsewhere, it's new here, usually.

Kermit Ruffins

I've heard two songs I've never heard before playing on Tony Quach's Yehoodi show today, both by Kermit Ruffins. They are moderate-tempo high-energy swinging tunes that I just totally dig. Anyone play him?

har har. I just heard Greg's Yehoodi plug "the only place where I can say Shana's boobies", which is so funny given Shana's "boobie" statement was played so often on previous shows...

Well, I'm sad to say that I'm letting my site go stale. I can't say which starting fading first, my desire to dance every chance I could, my desire to dj frequently, or my desire to buy 10 CDs/month or my desire to review them on-line. But its all faded quick a bit, so I think I'll put the review si...

Ryan, that looks like a good compilation. There's a few songs I don't have, so now I'm intrigued.

I bought the Dan Barrett Being a Bear and it was all right, but it didn't really seem that ideal for kids.

Nathan, thanks much for the reminder, I'd forgotten the name of the album.
