And the M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB? I've tried it and I will probably buy one in the near future. Its main drawback could be that you pay for a lot of features that most DJ:s won't need, but it certainly looks and feels rugged. Most pro DJs shy away from M-Audio soundcards. For instance, I had a Fi...

Knoxville's playlists sometimes show up here . Some of us post, some don't, some post with full commentary on why they've been playing what they've been playing. As a newbie dj in the scene, it's been a really helpful resource. Rock on! That's what I'm talkin' about! I like the commentary... There'...

I was using BPM Inspector for my Mac, but it stopped working with the new itunes updates. Any Mac users out there with a similar program that they could recommend? Rapid Evolution from MixShare.com is often considered the best free BPM -- AND KEY ! -- detector. You can also use it to suggest what o...

2007-06-27 @ Nick's Nightclub in Alexandria, VA

In the spirit of practicing what I preach, here's the playlist from 2007-06-27 @ Nick's Nightclub in Alexandria, VA Please note: "In The Mood" was a special request. One of our students will be dancing to it as the "Daddy/Daughter" dance at a wedding this weekend (which I'll be D...

VIVA LA REVOLUTION! Hehe! It's always good to have people on *BOTH* sides of the debate... I, personally, agree with you, though -- push the boundaries; challenge people's expectations. If we all stuck with "safe" well-defined music, it'd be "In The Mood" and "Mack The Knif...

Re: Pop Re-arrangements into Swing(ish)

Is this for your personal "enjoyment" or are you actually considering playing crap like this at an actual dance? Please! We prefer the term "Novelty Record" ... (Novelty is fun when it's, you know, "novel" -- ie, USED SPARINGLY! ) There was another thread about this re...

Posting Playlists

Hi all, I'm curious if people (do, should, will) post their playlists online. For example, I maintain an RSS feed which lists the Title, Artist, and Album information for all the songs I play in an evening. (I want to add BPM Real Soon Now...) It's nice, too, because whenever somebody wants to know ...

Amazing - that's pretty much what I went for. In fact, I even used the word 'zing' yesterday when I sent an email to the local swing group telling them what fun it was to play for them and what kind of energy I was trying to send their way! Heck yeah! "Zing Dancing!" Hahahahaha!! Oh...

You want to be able to fade in/fade out the applause, though, especially if it goes on longer than you like. Loud applause that is just cut dead because someone arbitrarily decided that that's where the track ends can sound awful. And if you can crossfade a new song IN over top of the applause, it'...

Hi, I'm new here. (Not new to Swing, though! Hehe!)

I'm curious where can I find this article?

Thanks,

Does anyone have the song list of Lindy Hop Jamboree Part 5? I'm trying rip a copy to my computer and my computer isn't recognizing the songs. Is that Lindy Hop Jamboree, Part 5, " Groovin' " or " Jumpin' " ? Groovin' "I'm Beginning to See the Light" - Harry James &quo...

Re: Looking for 'Swing When You´re Winning' style music

I am looking for modern (or something equivalent) lindy music in the same style as Robbie Williams "Swing When You´re Winning". So far I have only found Paul Anka "Rock Swings" and Christina Aguilera "Candyman". More suggestions? So far I've seen three different catego...
