Is there any software to compress the volume of a track before burning it to a CD?

Confusingly, the term "compression" usually means the file size in this situation. :?

I'd want to play "Hello, Goodbye, Forget It" just for the intro!

"Welcome to the Jubilee Jazz Joint were the..." uh I don't understand a word between that and "...Jimmy Mundy" but it sounds cool.

I also totally totally love the 3 CD Jubilee box. Lots of great fast songs, many from bands I've never heard of before. I may get shot for saying this, but I think the Duke and Basie cuts are among the weakest in the collection and they're still good. The sound quality varies from good to better tha...

If the bass is disappearing, you might want to make sure that the speakers are connected in phase if that's possible with the sound system. If the polarity of one or more of the speakers is backwards, it will suck up the bass the other speakers are sending out. This makes monophonic sources and old ...

I have a Nomad Jukebox 2. I wouldn't recommend DJing with it for people you don't know. You have to use a klutzy wheel on the side of it to select things. It's not easy to use. Occasionally a song will start with horrible crunching noise in one channel. The noise will disappear if you quickly restar...

The record company may have a legitimate GEMA license and may even be using it legally but there's no way to tell. Most European bootlegs in the early 90's carried GEMA stamps. Back then (and maybe now) GEMA was so disorganized that it couldn't keep track of which license holders were actually payin...

It's possible that the recordings are illegal in the U.S. but are legal in other countries where the copyright on recordings only exists for 50 years after release. Many classic swing recordings fell into European public domain in 1995-1996. All recorded works except maybe some wax cylinders will ha...

Ithe band leader on Sat evening talks way too much during songs (which I also agree with). Oh Pete. We've told him so many times. At the Portland Exchange I told him "We can't hear a damn thing you're saying! Not one single word! GIve it up!" It was even worse in the Seattle Center...

The back button sometimes doesn't work. It sends me right back to the page I was trying to go back from. Just another annoying thing.

What did folks think of the quadra-monophonic sound at the late nights? That was Kevin's speakers plus my speakers all at medium volume. I think it worked well since you could dance in front of any speaker and not lose your hearing, yet the volume was pretty consistant all around the floor.

Play the crowd and be prepared for anything. They may hate Elvis but go wild for the Stray Cats. Or vise versa.

Many of us have told him repeatedly that we've never understood a damn word he's ever spoken into a microphone. He just shrugs it off.

Next time I'm going to yell a Beavis and Butt-head line at him: "Hey. try talking with your mouth instead of your butt!"

Oh how I miss CDNow.com. Life was so simple back then. They had everything I ever wanted (well they listed everything I ever wanted). I could search for anything and find anything. They had clips of almost every song. Their artist bios were informative had links to more artists. I spent hours at the...
