Many thanks for all the feedback, all. I got email from people I've never heard of about the set. I'm very grateful for such a positive response. Thanks.

Just picked up Stacey Kent's new CD The Boy Next Door, and if you like your swing sickly sweet, you will love her version of this song. It was a big hit when I played it for the first time here.

Maybe because we don't have much real lindy hop history of our own.

I like playing some tracks from the CD DJstarr mentioned too. I played Comment Allez-Vous for kicks at the Paris Lindy Exchange last month and got a good response. I also highly recommend looking for some Claude Bolling. Just took delivery of Paris Swings , which is a good set of big band numbers in...

Kitkat and I were just talking about this -- I'm also waiting. Hopefully I find out within the next couple of weeks if I will have a show. Small station.

I've yet to experience this problem myself, despite having had an iPod since they first came out (I got one of the first in Australia) and having recently upgraded to a third generation 40 Gig model. I personally think that the gripes about the battery life are more to do with Apple's failure to res...

Thanks a lot Nate! Reading your comment reminded me that it's tough to know what to put into a set like that. What was your experience like? I was in two minds about variety, but I decided to try for a range that would maintain a bit of interest. I particularly wanted to put a few Australian tracks ...

I prefer his voice in his early stuff, but it seems to me he's definitely always had one of those limited-range voices with an intriguing tonal quality, like Billie Holiday or something. Not that I would compare them in terms of talent, but his voice is interesting to me in the same way.

Mose Allison

I haven't seen much mention of Mose Allison on SwingDJs yet. Just thought I would try and get some opinions flowing on this mellow-voiced Mississippi-born musician. Do you find his stuff good for dancing? Got a favourite track or album you'd like to recommend? I'll start. I just picked up The Mose C...

Here in Melbourne the scene is definitely a lot bigger than it was 2 years ago. We're now at the point where we're probably in the top 3 cities in the world in terms of the number of dancers and regular social events. You might be surprised to find out how heathy some scenes are here in the U.S. I ...

November 24 - Dec 2. That's right, a whole week of stuff next year. The reason: Swing City will be in Melbourne and we're combining it with MLX! We'll also be hosting the Hellzapoppin' World Championships, so cash in your frequent flyer miles now (or join a frequent flyer program). This is going to ...

This topic makes me wonder whether anyone has ever attempted to do a swing map with some kind of guide as to how big a scene is. I guess by big I mean the number of dancers, but it would also be worth looking at the number of regular social nights and the difference between social and non-social dan...

Absolutely awesome contest to take part in. I voted for Manu. I can't think of a time when I had more fun DJing than when we went head to head -- it lasted for over an hour and the crowd made us want to go on all night. Really fantastic vibe in there. And yeah -- we had a late substitution for Swede...

Aaaaaaarghhh.. These stories are strangely familiar!! I have a "clockwork guy" like Nate Dogg's Ed who never fails to amaze me with his predictability. It's like he doesn't have that little part of his brain that detects when he is really annoying someone. The most frustrating thing of all...
