Kristina, I know your topic was specifically about DJ related stuff, but for a very helpful, general resource for putting on an Exchange, I highly recommend checking out:

Sure, of course. It's possible to fry your laptop plugging in to a lot of things. I saw one go up in smoke when plugged into a video projector. It all depends what's going down those wires. In this case, it was a particular plug that carries power normally. Hard to believe that it would be wired in ...

Just wanted to say I got a kick out of meeting all the DJs in the Battle. Loved everything that was played. I definitely wish we had more time to build a set, but I was happy just to be part of the acction really. The battle definitely brought out some fantastic stuff from everyone, and even though ...

Great discussion. Hard to think of anyone more influencial than Armstrong, if my understanding of the development of big band swing is correct. I know he came from New Orleans, and Chicago, but that's kind of the point, right? New York, and specifically Harlem, was the crucible for all of these infl...

Yeah, I think I'm gonna agree with those who would include Basie as eligible material for HJDF. That's my interpretation anyway -- if for no other reason that I simply can't believe that the message I received was intended to rule out an artist like Basie. But GR's post isn't really saying that Basi...

Has anyone ever noticed who wins in audience judged dance contests? Children, old people, and idiots in red suspenders doing off time airsteps. I congratualte you all on competing to be the DJ equivalent Hey Kevin, I get what you're on about here, but I think that there is probably a distinction to...

Sigh. Yes, all too familiar, Lindy Bomb. Nando wrote: I suppose a song in the national scene can be considered overplayed when it's a "favorite" of many DJs in the swing scene. At least if you're using that terminology. I'm not part of the US national scene, but I guess I see what you are ...

Alright, I downloaded and had a play with the demo. The documentation is very good, and it seems pretty intuitive to use. It doesn't mess up your iTunes Library, and the two apps seem to coexist pretty well. In order to have the full DJ experience with stereo out and previewing, while using DJ-1800 ...

Hmm, that's really interesting, main_stem. I wonder -- does the advent of the digital era make improve the possibility of this 'niche' being catered for? Seems possible. There's no longer the problem of losses due to excess stock sitting around in warehouses.
