Actually, the singer on St. Louis Blues is Marc Caparone, the trumpet player, so your ears did not deceive you.

Yes, it is a well kept secret that I play piano..........

The other players on the ecording are:

Marc Caparone- Trumpet
Clint Baker- Trombone
Tom Wilson- String Bass
Jason Hansen- Drums

The sound quailty is poor on most of them. And the quailty of the musicians ranges widely as well. My favorite Bunk record is "Bunk Plays Popular Songs" with Don Ewell at the piano.

I agree with Jonathan entirely. My band used to play at all the Trad jazz/ Dixieland festivals on the west coast. We quit doing it for a number of reasons: 1. LOUSY Pay for tons of work. The reason they could get away with paying poorly is because there are many retired teachers/ doctors/ lawyers wh...

Both sides are being ridiculous. It's all jazz. People, including Dawn, need to be a little more open minded about jazz. It is a very broad spectrum of musical style. I not advocating that you like or prefer all of it. Just that you consider it. She should not bust people for playing hot jazz just b...

Cootie plays amazing stuff on the tune "Benny Rides Again" which I think is one of the most interesting BG big band records. It starts off all crazy with growling trumpets in a minor key, and then it mellows out with a beautiful smooth sax section and BG solo, and then back to the roaring ...

In a lot of those older records, the band will be playing 2 beat for the first chorus- the bass only playing 2 beast per bar, and then start into 4 beat on the second chorus. That would give you the reaction of thing getting going in the second 32 bars.
