In the hot shots, frida and I have performed it dozens of times to a song called "Drummer's Delight" by one of duke's small groups.

You have to alter the chereography just a tad, but it works really well and is very high energy

for the mac users out there who use DJ-1800 i made a suggestion to them to have it possible that when you play songs in DJ1800 it saves a new playlist in your itunes library (if you use itunes as your library). They were really resposive and said that they will take my suggestion and try to work it ...

I can't play the music I like for a whole set i think it is too bad if someone has to play, much less BUY, music that they don't like. Social dances here have had a lot more early jazz and 30's stuff of late, but I certainly wouldn't say that everyone's content with that. Lots of pressure on DJ's t...

I just got it ($3) and I was underwhelmed. "Back Bay Shuffle" was the best piece and I probably won't spin it. It seemed too earnest, too polished. Eh. Kalman perhaps its because the stuck so close to original arrangements that it sucked a bit of the excitement out of it. however, i do li...

Yeah I really like King Porter Stomp, (Back Home Again In) Indiana, Tickle Toe, and Froggy Bottom.

Kevin Mahagony belts out a nice blues on Harvard Blues also.

I think this is a great CD for dancing of all kinds. Nice energy to it. Recorded really well.

the organ tracks blow. but the other stuff, while not up to par with his big band arrangements are quite nice and mellow. Very well arranged. Good slower tempo songs.

I've been eyeing this one, it looked good. What are the liner notes like? The liner notes are 32 pages long, full of great information about the original recordings and about the new ones on the cd as well as personell. also, lots of cool pictures from dance halls in the 30s and 40s ive never seen ...

I just picked this one up too, again, really great hard swinging stuff recorded by modern bands. I am on a mission to find as much of this kind of shit as possible.

I will start with a recommendation I made a while back in another thread. Our local band Hal's Angels has a new CD that is great for pretty much all times of dancing. Their site has music clips from the CD. The band is a self-proclaimed Kansas City Jazz style band. The cool thing is that they make ...
