Have the CDs at home so I couldn't check that, I don't even pay much attention to U.S. reissues anymore because they usually disappoint, those 3 CDs span mostly the 30's so I highly recommend them. I knew about Bea being still alive but thanks for that interview link, BTW what do you mean by Roberts...

Good ol' Alastair Robertson. I knew him casually 'back in the day'. Nice guy. I don't see a description of what is on the Powell and the Clintons. They were both Bluebird/Victor artists. Are the sides from those sessions or from transcription services like Associated or Muzak or even Thesaurus? How...

I would like to see some lesser acts that haven't been given the proper (not Proper!) treatment: Bob Chester Jan Savitt Bob Crosby Teddy Powell Larry Clinton I've never seen a legit reissue even on LP by Teddy Powell or Bob Chester. Just bootlegs. Larry Clinton had a few legit reissues on RCA label...

Re: Scott Yanow writes : Why isn't jazz more popular

Weird... he mentions the REAL reason Jazz isn't more popular, yet it's not even in his list. haha What list? I like the article, all you need to do to know that Mr. Yanow knows his Jass is to nerd out on allmusic.com and read his reviews of the many CD's that many of the users of this board probabl...

Just an FYI, Rollini, although he could play piano was much better known for his bass saxophone playing and it was his playing on that instrument that really made him famous. Rollini along with Otto Hardwick really put the instrument on the map when it comes to Jazz music...

Viper Mad

I'm looking for a high quality copy of Noble Sissle/Sidney Bechet's "Viper Mad"...the version I have is off of Reefer Songs on Mojo and it's of fairly poor sound quality...anyone out there think they have a high quality version?, if so what CD is it on? Thanks.

Humphrey Lyttelton dies at 86

One of my favorite British jazz trumpeters... If you are not familiar with his work pick up the "The Best Of Humphrey Lyttelton" 3 disk set on EMI... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7367385.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3477089.stm Oh yea, and he worked on Amnesiac....
