If the band really is awful or if they tend to play all one style or one tempo, then DJing the breaks gives the dancers some much needed variety, assuming the DJ is paying attention.

Okay I'm a computer lamewad so I need help. Now that I have my Extigy card installed, how do I configure it to be able to preview songs? I guess the question is how do I go about sending audio to different places. I'm using Windows XP. Did you ever get your Extigy to work with previewing without ha...

The higher bit rates will be a good thing. Obviously, they realized that their customer want that. I do have to say that I spin from CDs created with eMusic MP3s all the time and I have never had a complaint. I have spun from them as well, but more for cozier settings. When going to bigger venues w...

When I was searching emusic's forums for an answer to my question above, I came across this FYI: We are in the process of re-encoding the entire EMusic catalog at a higher bit rate. Although we have not released a formal date for this change, it is not far off and we think it will make a big differ...

Great recommendation on the Roy Milton CDs in emusic. Have listened to most of them now - Only problem is that now I have to buy the real CDs because I want to spin them regularly. <Sigh> Broke again :) I love using emusic as an evaluation tool. Well worth $10/month. Speaking of emusic, anyone ever ...

So what you're saying Jesse, is that it might be more beneficial to get the other 100 cds on my wishlist first? :)

Mike, that link you posted: Do the first two CD collections I and II overlap with the other sets? I have the first 2 collections but may be convinced to get the rest if other people think it is worth it. Thanks.

I can't read the model# on that Denon - what is it?

Pioneer now has the DMP-555 which plays CDs and MP3 CDs and has an SD slot that you can play MP3s from as well. Pretty slick if you don't want to burn an entire CD to try out a few songs.

Jesse, you are correct. I looked it up on cdrinfo.com. You still have to have a mod chip for ps games. Just wishful thinking I guess. They do mention flawless recording but also mention that any decent CDR media will provide that.

I've only heard of them being used to duplicate Playstation games so that an unmodded PS can read them. Don't know about any other added benefit.

I use sometimes use Master Tempo control on my Pioneer CDJ-100s. Lock the pitch, change the tempo. Much more than 10% in either direction and it starts getting a little scary. I don't use it often, but sometimes at the beginning of a dance when there are just beginners on the floor, or if teaching, ...
