I've been looking into PCDJ FX which has the feature of changing the tempo while maintaining the same key. It looks pretty sweet. They have a free demo that you can download (limitations of 30 min at a sitting, or 20 songs before you have to quit the program and restart). It's semi-pricey retail - ...

I mentioned it in another thread, but my storage choice is: f:\archive\<genre>\<artist>\<album>\01 - <Artist Name> - <title>.mp3 How hard is it to pick one genre for artists that clearly cross whatever genre boundaries you have defined? Or do you put all of your swing dj collection into "swing...

Oh yeah, one more thing Dana regarding the iRiver, can you modify playlists on the fly? If I ever did want to pseudo dj from it, that would be important. I think IPODs now let you do this.

Dana, thanks for the info. This is now at the top of my wishlist.

As far as hours, what I meant was, how many hours have you used it - how much have you used it? Just would like to know if there have been any song access baubles. That would be a minus for djing off of it.

I just got a 20G iRiver ( http://www.iriveramerica.com ) which also comes in 40G. They're price-equivalent to the iPod, but better because: - Longer battery life (11-16 hr) - Firmware upgradeable - Plays tons of codecs, not just AAC/MP3 - No DRM (for those of us who care) - No iTunes, just drag-and...

I'm looking for an MP3 player with a HD (at least 40GB) that I can use as an external USB drive when DJing from my laptop, but also use as a player itself when I'm teaching or just kicking around listening to my collection. Any suggestions on the latest batch of these? I think someone here mentioned...

EAC has a nice feature which trims the silence off the start and end of the track when ripping from CD. What is the success rate of EAC chopping off at the right point? What about complete silence breaks within a song? This doesn't help though with clapping at the end of a song - something you'd no...

John, I like that sort of setup. I've been considering a move to a PC based setup but it's more to reduce space/annual licensing costs. How does the "waitlist" work in PCDJ? Does it differ from a playlist? Can one still queue an extra track or two in a player? There is an option to "...

To address the playlist concern, in PCDJ Red I usually drop "might play" songs into the waitlist as I'm spinning my set. However I almost always manually load songs into Player A or Player B then hit play. Nothing gets played automatically - as manual as spinning from 2 players and a mixer...

Unlike some of Matt's songs, this one is not too hard to find. You can get it on Keep On Moving: The Best Of... or Kidjo, Angelique Gershwin/G/H Amazing Grace [Polygram] [97] Kidjo, Angelique Gershwin/G/H Jazz a Saint Germain [98] Kidjo, Angelique Gershwin/G/H Keep on Moving: The Best of Angelique ...

Anyone else hear Matt Jones' version of Summertime by Angelique Kidjo(sp?)? That song blew my mind. He spun it in the blues room Saturday late night I believe. Any other songs by her that people are spinning? Matt's band break set on Saturday night was especially inspiring to me. The band Sunday nig...

Binging now, but I think I'll keep it for a couple of months to see if they add anything good within that time frame. If not, there's not much point in giving them money for nothing. This will definitely cut down on the "I'll download the whole album now and listen to it later" attitude :(

I ended up buying PCDJ Red for $80 new off ebay (retail is $200). I'm still evaluating it, but it has a lot of very nice features so far that I like: mainly support for more than one soundcard and the ability to preview any song at any time without having it affect the main output. It also saves BPM...

Thanks for the tip about Winamp. I'm now able preview using the internal soundcard with the headphone jack on the laptop and play from Music Match through the Extigy. With the Extigy card I have a couple of questions/concerns: 1. When playing from a CD through the Extigy I'm getting interference. It...
