Speaking of Fats Waller, I just discovered his "What A Pretty Little Miss" on Jazz-On-Line.com; I really dig it - I'd never heard it before. Of course, he was so prolific that there are hundreds of his songs I've yet to hear!

Laura -
It sounds like
"and Mister Sun do own your bones all day"
But ummmm, I don't think that's it... ;). I can't find the lyrics online. Maybe it'll hit me upon repeated listenings.

I was able to visit the National Jazz Museum in Harlem last Thursday and listened to songs from the collection for about an hour - some quite nicely restored already (particularly some energetic Benny Goodman tunes), others still with quite compromised audio quality, but fascinating nonetheless. Hop...

You can crossfade with iTunes. It's pretty rudimentary, but it's there.

AV8 - The best version of Artie Shaw's "Oh! Lady Be Good" is the remastered track from "The Essential Artie Shaw". Better audio quality than the Double Mellow on the youTube clip. Find it here: http://www.emusic.com/album/Artie-Shaw-The-Essential-Artie-Shaw-MP3-Download/11479294....

I'd guess that's Benny Goodman too - it's the same arrangement as two other Goodman recordings of this song that I know of. But that's not Harry James on trumpet.

That's Jimmie Lunceford's "Posin'", which is the most well-known and DJ'd version, I believe; it's the only one I know, anyway!

Allmusic.com lists the composer of MBRB's Callin' Your Bluff as "Kyle".
BTW, The John Kirby Orchestra's song "Andiology" (find it on jazz-on-line.com) is also identical to Callin' Your Bluff. THAT one is credited to John Kirby and Charlie Shavers.
Hmmmm. ;)
