the newer powerbooks do, but I personally like the little package of the ibook and refuse to be swayed by the latest and greatest technology in that respect. PC laptops in my opinion still leave a lot to be desired, especially in battery life/performance balancing, build quality, cooling, price, etc...

I haven't seen as many bus-powered firewire drives as usb. It'll be easier to find a usb one, and I've *never* had a conflict with mine, so I'm not sure what that's about. USB is more available than Firewire on computers too... So ya, I recommend USB. The Smardisk drives are basically the same as t...

Be also aware that many lossless and hi-fidelity formats also require a lot of processing power. I should also note that a bitrate of 240kbps and up for the LAME codec has virtually perfect transparency. That's an 83% compression rate (almost 6 times smaller) compared to monkey audio's (fast compres...

Oh! I seemed to have missed your reply. Thanks! Earl Hines Trio? Never heard them, will check them out. Have some albums for me to listen to? Which Dorsey? Tommy Dorsey is good, but often overplayed. I have (of Tommy Dorsey) Sentimental Dorsey, 1946-1947 chronological collection, Boogie Woogie, Tea ...

You can try encoding stuff into lossless audio codecs like APE (monkey audio, my favorite), FLAC, or whatever other stuff is out there. I occasionally run into places with nothing but a CD player, so until I get a laptop of my own, I have to burn a lot of CDs, and I'd rather not carry around a colle...

Charlie Barnet style music?
I asked this around several forums but no one really knew.
I was looking for music in the style of Charlie Barnet? Anyone sound like him? Outstanding rhythm section, killer brass, you know.
Yeah, of course there's Ellington, but I have a lot of him already.
